Barbie is getting a much needed dramatic makeover after 57 years as they add a more diverse group of new dolls with body types like curvy, petite, and tall. The doll has been known for her dazzling looks and beautiful smile. This has been a long time in the making as many parents debated to have their daughters play with the doll.
Time Magazine revealed the new collection in their story and they also featured the curvy Barbie on the cover of the new issue. The cover story was written by Eliana Dockterman. For recent years, the sales of Barbie have declined and Mattel stepped up by taking action of this problem.
Here is what Evelyn Mazzocco, who is the head of Barbie told Time:
“The millennial mom is a small part of our consumer base, but we recognize she’s the future. Yes, some people will say we are late to the game. But changes at a huge corporation takes time.”
We’re happy to see this change finally come and putting smiles on little girls faces. The new collection is available on the Barbie website now.
