How To Dress Up For A Holiday Party, When You Don’t Like To Dress Up

Who doesn’t love the season of Christmas time with the beautiful decorations, lights, and hot tasty co-co while sitting by the fire side. Usually your job, friends or family will have a Christmas party, a dinner, or cocktail party and the dress code is for you to dress up and slay. Now if you are the type of person who feels more comfortable in jeans and a sweatshirt and hate the idea of having to get “fancy,” this article is for you. As women we can all understand that it is very time consuming putting together a fancy outfit, doing our hair, and make-up when you wish you can just go to a party the way you are and have fun. This is not to say that all women love to wear sweat pants all day, but we do love our crop tops, button ups, slim jeans, and a pair of ballerina flats, which leaves us sexy and comfortable.

Most people associate dressing up with being uncomfortable, but fortunately you can be fashionable and comfortable at the same time. For those who are jean or pant lovers, when it is time for that holiday party, you should go for a relaxed-fit suit. A spiffy fitted blazer, with the pants to match is very dressy, but don’t go for the basic black, branch out and try different colors like navy and grey tones, and that is sure to get compliments when you walk into the room.  This suit can be worn with flats, heels, or even sneakers with a tie, a fitted shirt, lacy bra, or silky blouse. For a more casual affair, cropped skinny jeans with a low heel will work, or even a pair of jeans with a top that pops out. Blouses can make or break the outfit most of the time, so if finding bottoms is a hard thing for you at the moment, just make sure your top has something extra going on with it. For those parties where the attire is strictly formal you don’t have to force yourself to wear one of those uncomfortable  dresses because there is always an option of the knit dress that clings to the body and falls in the right places. On cold days high thigh suede boots are very cozy, and add a lot of style to the outfit. Caftan pants, which people would call “hammer pants”, can be cozy and fashionable with a fitted top, a colored paired of stilettos, and oversized earrings to bring out the glamour of the outfit.  At the end of the day, dressing up should be fun with no stress included. If you want to always be prepared for a surprise holiday party keep different pieces of clothing in your closet that you know you can mitch-match, and pull together a look. It is satisfying knowing you are sticking to your personal style, and staying comfortable at the same time.
