Microsoft has enlisted emerging Brooklyn-based alternative-r&b singer Tangina Stone to push the limits of the traditional music video. The pair are coming together to create a virtual experience for Stone’s latest single “Anxious” using Microsoft’s HTC VIVE product.
The ‘Anxious’ VR experience will be unveiled Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Microsoft 5th Avenue during a private listening reception featuring a live performance from Stone for her forthcoming debut album Elevate.
Anxious deals with Stone’s on-going struggles with mental health. Through the Anxious VR Experience, users are going to be put into a world created around Stone’s experiences with different forms of anxiety. The goal of the experience is to bring awareness to anxiety and mental health through virtual scenarios.
Justin Munoz of Anyworld, the agency behind the Anxious VR experience said, “We sat with Tangina, and discussed her life and created an engaging visual narrative that will make full use of VR’s immersive nature to invoke different forms of anxiety due to what’s happening around (or to) the user. This is something that the standard music video format just can’t provide.”
